A stock, also known as equity, is a security that represents the ownership of a fraction of a company. When you buy a stock, you are essentially buying a small piece of the company. Stocks are bought and sold on stock exchanges, and their prices can fluctuate based on a number of factors, including the company's performance, the overall market conditions, and investor sentiment.

There are two main types of stocks: common stock and preferred stock. Common stock is the most basic type of stock, and it gives the owner the right to vote on company matters and to receive dividends, if any are declared. Preferred stock, on the other hand, does not give the owner the right to vote, but it does typically pay a higher dividend than common stock.

By Karobia Karofia; Digital Marketing Expert at akus.co.ke

Ecommerce business is one of the most competitive industries over the internet. From selling clothes online, electronics, hotel bookings, jewelries, or anything in between, you’re equally going to square it out with your competitors for website traffic and customers. So, this brings the question, which are the best ecommerce marketing strategies worth your time and investments

This articles guides you on the top 10 best ecommerce marketing strategies to help you stay up-to-date with ecommerce marketing trends and techniques on how to promote ecommerce business.

1. Ecommerce SEO
SEO is one of the most effective long-term ecommerce marketing strategies. Google and Bing are the most frequented search engines by online shoppers looking for various products. Ecommerce pages that appear on the first page of these search engines benefit from huge traffic leading to high conversion.

To achieve this, you need to utilize common search terms related to your products. Also, purpose to include long tail keywords and ensure images are properly alt-texted.

2) Email Marketing for ecommerce
Ecommerce email marketing strategy is important in maintaining direct connection with your clients. You are able to personalize and customize emails that strengthen customer relationships.

Welcome emails, newsletters, birthday and anniversary emails, promotional and discount emails are some of the personalized messages that make email marketing for ecommerce very efficient and effective.

3) Social Media ads
Social media is another powerful marketing channel for ecommerce. It is free to use and cost-effective when you go for the ads. You only need to figure out where (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) your target customers are mostly subscribed, then proceed to pay to have your content made available to them.

You have the option of choosing which form your Facebook, or Instagram ads should take. They can be image ads, carousel ads, text or video ads.

● Facebook ads
Through Facebook ads for ecommerce, your brand is able to speak to a variety of users and stir consumer interest which makes them potential customers. Facebook ads can appear in user's newsfeeds, stories, or messenger.
● Instagram ads
Just like Facebook ads, Instagram ads have the potential to increase ecommerce awareness and sales too. The ads are projected to strategic audiences through posts and stories, linking them with your ecommerce site.
● Google Ads
Google ads appear on the first page of Google search engine, just above organic results when a product or service search is conducted. Advertisers only pay for ads that have been clicked.

Google prioritizes quality ads which are relevant and contain competitive keywords. When advertising your ecommerce business through Google ads, you can expect conversions because users are already after a product they are ready to buy.

4) Content Marketing
To increase your conversion rates and equally build brand loyalty, you need to consider content marketing ecommerce strategy. Most online shoppers don't shop blindly, but first seek informative content related to products they are interested in so that they can make informed choices.

Best ecommerce marketing agency can bridge that gap by providing valuable content such as blogs, webinars, podcasts, and videos. The content should offer solutions and give clarity.

5) Influencer Marketing
Brand exposure can also be accomplished through influencer marketing. All you need to do is find influencers with loyal and vibrant followers who fit your target audience.

Task them to introduce your products to their followers, a move that positively impacts your social media sales funnel. You can agree on how you want them to influence your product, or leave it to them to do what they do best as long as the task gets done.

6) Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing is simply an arrangement where an online seller promotes products of a fellow merchant on their site, earning a commission on the process.

Entering an affiliate program, therefore, brings additional revenue to an ecommerce business whenever affiliate marketers manage to push through sales. Additionally, this type of ecommerce strategy is effective in widening the target audience of a business.

Conclusion
All of the above ecommerce marketing strategies are applicable to both small and large businesses. They are exactly what you need to stand out from competition. However, you need to get in touch with a professional ecommerce digital marketing agency can effortlessly execute these marketing techniques on your behalf. With the help of smart tools, ecommerce marketing strategists are able to oversee these strategies with ease and accuracy.

Netflix, american streaming platform and production company is launching an entirely free plan — with limited content and available only on Android phones in Kenya.

“If you’ve never watched Netflix before — and many people in Kenya haven’t — this is a great way to experience our service,” Cathy Conk, director of product innovation at Netflix, wrote in a blog post. “And if you like what you see, it’s easy to upgrade to one of our paid plans so you can enjoy our full catalog on your TV or laptop as well.”

Netflix hopes that by offering the free tier, which includes about one-fourth of the content available in its paid-streaming plans in Kenya, more people will try out the service and end up subscribing.

The free plan in Kenya allows people to sign up to access Netflix ad-free on Android mobile phones. In addition to a truncated content lineup, the no-cost tier does not allow users to download titles for offline viewing nor does it allow casting to connected TVs.

When Kenyans sign up for the free plan, no payment information is required. Users only need to enter an email address, confirm they are 18 or over, and create a password. “Then you can sit back and watch many of Netflix’s most popular series and films, as well as enjoy our personalized recommendations, parental controls, and profiles (including kids),” Conk wrote.

The forum aims to increase the societal impact of corporate and private giving in Kenya, with a view to transforming lives by improving the social and economic status of Kenyans.

M-PESA Foundation in collaboration with the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) has officially commissioned the Impact Philanthropy Africa Forum which aims to bring together self-funded corporate charitable foundations. The forum was launched during a virtual workshop  themed Building Back Better: Growing Corporate Social Investment (CSI) in Kenya.

The forum provides a platform for Impact Philanthropy Africa members, key thought leaders across policy, research, funding and government to share their perspective on the state of the sector and emerging opportunities to scale corporate giving for social impact in Kenya.

“The power of corporate partnership, supporting public goals such as education, maternal health, child health, economic empowerment, peace and justice can be transformational for Kenya and the region. Kenya has the potential to be one of Africa’s success stories if only we focus, unite and utilize our resources to grow the dynamic private sector as well as the community,” said Les Baille, Executive Director, M-PESA Foundation and Co-Convener, Impact Philanthropy Africa.

The corporate philanthropies have committed to develop strategies that are aligned to key development areas and aim to create lasting social, economic and environmental transformation for communities in Kenya. This would breach the gap between developing and implementing agendas such as the SDGs and the Vision 2030 that focus on Education, Health, Social and Community development.

The forum will provide opportunities for learning and sharing of CSI innovations that have the potential for wider impact to the society; thought leadership for the growth of the CSI sector in Kenya as well as identifying and pursuing key advocacy issues to influence policy and practice impacting CSI.

“To fully capitalize on the great impact CSI can create, Impact Philanthropy Africa members are committed to the public benefit and to their philanthropic purposes and are working to build a culture of corporate social investment (CSI) and influence policy through advocacy and thought leadership consequently improving the social and economic status of Kenyans.” added Faustina Fynn-Nyame, Executive Director, CIFF Africa & co-convener, Impact Philanthropy Africa.

Members of the Impact Philanthropy Africa forum include Aga Khan Foundation, Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), Coca-Cola East, Central and West Africa, Family Group Foundation, Gertrude’s Hospital Foundation, I&M Bank Foundation, Johnson & Johnson Foundation, KenGen Foundation, Kenya Airways, M-PESA Foundation and Stanbic Foundation.

The convenors, M-PESA Foundation and CIFF are calling upon like-minded organizations to join Impact Philanthropy Africa.
